Welcome to Mindsweeps Radio. I’m so glad you’re here.
If you’ve been following along with me, you know that the first step in transformation is awareness — simply noticing where you are without trying to fix it. Then, once you’ve noticed, the second step is compassion — meeting yourself with kindness instead of judgment.
Today we’re going deeper. Once you have awareness and compassion, the next step is intention.
Intention is the bridge between noticing and doing. Awareness shows you the truth of where you are. Compassion creates the safety to stay with it without shame. And intention? That’s what gives you direction, clarity, and purpose. Without it, it’s easy to stay stuck in cycles of “I’ll start tomorrow” or “maybe someday.” But with intention, even the smallest step carries meaning.
Let me give you an example. Awareness might sound like, “I notice my body feels tired.” Compassion adds, “It’s okay that I feel this way — I’ve been carrying a lot.” And intention says, “Because I feel tired, I’m going to shut off my phone 30 minutes earlier tonight and let myself rest.”
Notice how different that feels from saying, “I should go to bed earlier, I need to be more disciplined, I need to stop being lazy.” One of those voices pulls you down. The other lifts you forward with purpose.
Intention isn’t about perfection. It’s not about nailing every habit or pushing yourself harder every day. It’s about choosing, on purpose, how you want to show up in this moment. When you do that consistently, even in the smallest ways, your life begins to shift.
So how do we practice this? Start simple. Instead of setting ten different goals, choose just one layer of yourself — body, mind, or spirit. Ask yourself: how do I want to feel today? Maybe you want to feel grounded. Maybe you want to feel clear. Maybe you want to feel more connected.
Once you have that answer, set one small intention that matches. If you want to feel grounded, maybe you’ll walk barefoot in the grass for two minutes. If you want clarity, maybe you’ll pause for one slow breath before opening your computer. If you want connection, maybe you’ll text a friend or step outside and notice something beautiful.
These are not grand gestures. They are micro-intentions. Small enough that you can’t fail, but powerful enough to remind you that you’re living on purpose.
The beauty of intention is that it creates momentum. At first, it feels tiny — a glass of water, a single breath, a step outside. But over time, each intention builds trust with yourself. You start to believe your own word again. You begin to feel safe taking bigger steps. Motivation doesn’t have to come first — it actually shows up after action. And intention is what gets you to take that first action.
When we live without intention, we drift. We follow habits that may not even belong to us. We scroll, we say yes when we mean no, we let days slip by in distraction. And then we wonder why we feel disconnected. Intention is the opposite of drifting. It’s like planting your feet firmly on the ground and saying, “This is where I am, and this is how I choose to step forward.”
And listen — you don’t need to get it perfect. Some days, your intention might be as simple as saying, “Today I’m going to be gentle with myself no matter what happens.” That counts. Intention doesn’t have to be measurable or impressive. It just has to be yours.
So take a moment right now. Close your eyes if you can, place your hand on your heart, and ask yourself: what’s one way I want to feel today? Don’t overthink it. Just notice what comes up. Then choose one small action that matches. That’s your intention.
This process isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing what matters. Awareness opened your eyes. Compassion softened your heart. And now intention points you forward.
If you’ve been drifting, if you’ve been waiting for the “right moment” to start, let this be your reminder: you don’t need the perfect plan. You don’t need all the answers. You just need intention. One choice made on purpose. One step taken with clarity.
Thank you for walking this journey with me. Each time you tune in to Mindsweeps Radio, you’re showing up for yourself, and that matters more than you know. So take a breath. Set your intention. And trust that you’re already moving forward.
